I am planning on signing up for the Florida IM 70.3, which has been rescheduled to December 12. I’m also looking to do an Olympic distance in mid-September. I have the Level 1 Olympic plan, which is scheduled to begin this week, and if I did the Half Ironman Level 1, that should start in early-August. My thought is to run through the Olympic plan to completion, take a week off for recovery, and pick up the Half Ironman at week whatever.

Is this a decent training strategy or am I missing something?

It’s usually okay to skip some of the base phase in the second plan of a pair, but I don’t recommend doing it a third time. You’ll want to complete a full base phase for whatever comes next after the 70.3
