I just started a Level 1 Endurance plan to help me build my fitness before starting to train for my first marathon.
My training has been a bit scattered since I finished a half marathon in the spring, so I am eager to regain fitness. I used a half marathon plan from the book, and felt the most confident I’ve ever felt for a race.
I have four weeks between when the Endurance plan ends and I would need to start a marathon training plan. Do I repeat weeks now that I am at the start of the Endurance plan? Do I reverse taper the Endurance plan? Or should I repeat weeks at the start of the marathon plan?
I would recommend repeating the first few weeks of the marathon plan. This is the general preparation phase and lays down a great foundation of fitness for the increased volume to come. Adding a little extra to this phase is always a great way to have a great base of fitness, resilience and running efficiency for the future work!
