Hi, I have 12 weeks before the start of my 70.3 plan.
Would it make sense to schedule two consecutive Racing Weight plans (which I enjoy in their structure), or would it be better to schedule just one six-week cycle and add six weeks from the Maintenance plan?
Matt mentions in his book that it is not a good idea to focus on the intense weight loss portion of losing weight for more than eight weeks. He recommends transitioning to the standard racing weight plan after that time as it can be hard to maintain then intense portion mentally for longer than that.
I’d personally go with the 6 weeks of maintenance as an good off season rest period..Then follow that with the 6 week racing weight plan.
I had the same thoughts etc.
I ended up doing maintenance first, will then dive into the racing weight followed by the 70.3.
My reason for doing it that way is that the maintenance plan is “easier” than the racing weight than the 70.3 (I will either do the 2 or 3 – depending on what I think I can handle in terms of timing).
I guess you could also think of doing a bike or run specific plan instead fo the maintenance plan and then do the racing weight plan?
