Bridging between plans

Hi – I’m finishing the Level 2 half marathon plan (from the book), this week and have had a great experience with the plan and improvement so far. I am looking to start the training peaks 10k level 2 plan soon after and was wondering if I should do some base training in between for a few weeks or simply jump into the new plan. Background wise, I modified the HM plan slightly to do 6 days running peaking at 6 hours for a few weeks. The 10k plan is a slight increase in hours (peaking at 7.25 hours). Is it best to jump into the new plan, or should I spend a month on mainly easy running increasing to 6.5 or 7 hours? I.e. increase mileage without the intensity, then back off and start plan.

R, thanks for posting on the forums. Because the increase in volume between your modified HM plan and the 10K plan is so small (or at least small enough), no need to prep for the 10K plan. You can jump right into it.

Thanks for the response David. I’ll have a week of easy, then get straight into the plan then.
