    Hi team,

Currently mid-way (14 weeks) through a 100miler (lvl2) and my target race has officially been cancelled. I’m now looking at another 100miler which is scheduled for 26 Sep 20 which is just over 23 weeks away from now.

I was thinking of heading across to a maintenance routine (and some extra hours for ultra runners) for a few weeks to freshen up (Bike / Run) before jumping back into the 100miler (Lvl2) at the 3 or 4 week mark?

I would, however, continue with Strength and conditioning throughout.

    Thoughts?

I like this plan. It’s consistent with the need to periodically rest and reset and avoid 365 days a year of formal training. Your current fitness from the first 14 weeks of the plan is more than enough to jump to Maintenance for a few weeks and then into Week 2+ of the formal plan.

If you are alike most athletes, you’ll feel that the Maintenance is too easy. That’s a good thing. Let it be easy for a few weeks, then come back and kill it for the formal plan.

Strength and conditioning is for sure recommended during this period as well.

    David
