    Hi

I have a full IM scheduled for June, that has not been cancelled or postponed as of yet. I am trying to stick to my training plan as much as possible, and with all the social adjustments like gyms and pool closures, I am struggling to get swim training in.

Apart from sea swimming which is just to cold to do at the moment, is there any other alternative training I can substitute swim training session for, like double up on run or bike to get the total TSS requirements into the weekly plan.

    Regards

Paddy, yes, we’ve created a dry land swim session at https://www.8020endurance.com/dryland-swim-workout/

Besides doing the dry land swim session as a swim substitute, is it possible to piggy back a 1-2 mile Zone 1 and/or Zone 2 run on top of it as well? The reason I ask, is I’m on week 3 of the Level 2 Ironman Power/Run Pace plan and next week is recovery week. I have two swims on the docket w/nothing else scheduled for those days. I’ve been doing the dry land swim sessions 4x a week, and even though I feel I’m getting stronger, at the same time I feel its not doing anything for my aerobic base. Thoughts?

BTW. I completed CCI13 and RSI1 as a brick last night. Toughest brick I’ve done to date. Thanks!

Lanny, well done on your workout! That’s a tough combination, yes? The 80/20 system makes that workout possible because we are setting you up to gain new fitness with enough easy training.

To answer your question, I’ve updated our dryland swim training document to answer this question, see https://www.8020endurance.com/dryland-swim-workout/
