I have been running (at far too high an intensity) for years as I am in the military.
I have been trialing 80/20 options for about six weeks now; I trialed it on an iPhone app for a month and now have finished a 2 week sample trial for half marathon on here.
I now have a Coros Pace 2 watch and used the power plan.
Am I better off going for a half marathon plan to have a goal to aim for or being patient and using a maintenance plan until I improve my fitness and get used to running with power?
I really start to enjoy running by power. I think it makes sense as your watch has a power meter built in 🙂
I think if you have a goal race, go for the half marathon plan.
I don’t have a date for a race yet. There is one on the 23 May 21, but i’m not sure if I’ll be ready by then. I could just give it a go i suppose. At least I would have an actual race time to build on?
Dave, I’d target at least a solo HM event and use the HM plan. You don’t need a formal race, just create a course in your neighborhood and run the first annual “Dave Half Marathon sponsored by 80/20 Endurance.” If you can find an actual HM, great! Otherwise, go for it.
If you are not ready to commit to a HM, solo or official, then sick with the Maintenance plan.
