    Hey Guys,

Do you have any recommdations on the proper amount of sleep? Ive looked throught the index of 80/20 running, triathlon and diet books and the blog, havent found anything.

I know it can vary from person to person but would love to hear what some of your pros are doing. I currently sleep around 830-930 hours with no alarm clock.

I am wondering if that is too much as I have read 7.5 has been found to be best for longevitiy.I always take those studies with a grain of salt since the participants probably were not training as hard as people in this forum.

Usually, the more sleep you can get, the better. But all the sleep you can get is all the sleep you can get. Meaning, if you can’t change it, don’t sweat it. I rarely get more than 6 hours and always wake up way before the alarm clock goes off. It’s just what it is. On the bright side, if I sleep more than 7 hours, I know I am getting sick and can make changes very early.

Anakin, I’m out of my depth here. I’ve made a living on maintaining credibility by only advising when I have the expertise to do so, and I don’t know enough about this subject. I’m aligned with XFat’s assessment.

Anakin, according most of the studies it’s enough to sleep btw 7-9 hr. But most important is WHEN you go to bed and HOW good you sleep. It’s recommended to go to bed around 10pm but it’s also strongly recommended not to eat anything (and drink alcohol ) at least 3hr before that. Also track your sleeping patterns: movement, REM, deep sleep. Again, it’s not about the quantity but the quality of the sleep. I use Garmin 6x since 6 months and there are plenty of new metrics measuring the sleep and I can only recommend you to invest in similar device. Also check some studies and podcasts with this guy: Matthew Walker.

    Cheers,
    Vesselin
