I recently came across a 33 KM race for next spring. This is an odd.distance and I have so many “ideas” running through my head for training.

My season ends Nov 25 this year and I plan to take an off season over the winter with a maintenance plan.

I will.have about 13 weeks from the end of the off season and the race. I had thought about utilizating the speed.plan or endurance plan to start the season before I signed up for this race as I am thinking about doing a multi race weekend in the fall that I need to improve my 10K speed.

This isn’t a race that I’m 100% sure I want to run hard. I might as it would make a great tune up race before fall.

Here is the issue. What would you recommend as a training plan?

    1) Marathon Plan
    2) HM Plan with increased long runs
    3) HM plan as is
    4) Endurance plan and adjust long run
    5) Something totally different

    Matt Fitzgerald

I lean to advising you to follow a half-marathon plan with slightly extended long runs. This will give you the best of both worlds, helping you build speed and endurance simultaneously without getting in over your head.

Thanks Matt..That helps me clarify my thoughts. I appreciate you and David always being so helpful.
