Level 2 plans with more recovery

    Hi all,

    I’ve done couple of races on Level 1 half and full triathlon plans but for the next races I want to try a Level 2 plan.

    The problem is that Level 2 plans are structured in a 3 weeks on/1 week recovery cycle.

    I know that I can handle weekly volume from a Level 2 plan but, from my experience, I know that I perform better with a 2 week on/1 week recovery cycle.

    Is there a possibility to convert a Level 2 plan into a 2 on/1 recovery cycle? Eventually, without transform it into a giant plan with 30+ weeks?

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    I’m reminded of Matt’s analogy in this scenario. “What’s the best way to turn this cake into a pizza? Throw away the cake and make a pizza.”

    It’s not really a Level 2 plan using a 3 week-cycle, one of the distinctions of the Level 1 plan is the 3-week cycle.

    You could remove every 4th week of the Level 2 plan, but then it’s just a Level 1 plan that’s 15 weeks long.

    So, no, our standard plans can’t be modified with that kind of significant change. Another option is a new custom plan that has Level 2 or 3 kind of volume, but on a 3-week cycle, which Matt can provide at https://www.8020endurance.com/custom-plans-and-coaching/
