So, up until now, my Z2 has been no more than 145bpm. Now having done the 30 Min LTHR test (10+20), my LTHR was at 180bpm for the 20 mins. Which, if I’m understanding that correctly, now means my new zone 2 is 146-162 bpm?! Can that be right?
When i ran my 5k PB last year, my average HR was 173.
Honestly, I don’t like that test, never have. A better way to determine your LTHR is to use a race or time trial to determine your LT pace or power, then go out and run at that pace or power and see what HR it corresponds to. That’s your LTHR.
