I ran my LT Pace test and felt like I left it all on the road. Maybe could have started a bit faster but reasonably happy. I took the test on the general area I train on which includes some hills (maybe a mistake?) instead of on a flat road or track.

What I am having a hard time is at my LTPace test Zone 2, my HR seems to be pretty high and I am very unsure if I am running too fast in Zone2 for my heart rate, or I am in the right spot. My test link is below. Any thoughts on how to reconcile a LTPace vs LT HR variance?

Should I take another test(s) to compare and find a middle ground?

    ECap,

If you identify both your Pace and HR thresholds in the same test, the zones will align. Your threshold pace from that test is 6:58 per mile. What was your average HR for the final 20-minute of that same test?

If your HR zones and Pace zones were tested separately, there is a good chance they will not align.

I tested both LT and HR in the same test. My avg HR was 178 for the final 20 minutes (175 for the full 30 min).

Ecap, I can’t see that recent training on Strava. Can you confirm the link is public, or can you send me the original workout file to david@8020endurance.com.

Thanks David. My Strava is set to public and the test was on Oct 4th if that helps. I also just e-mailed you the files as well.

    Thanks for your help!

Eric, sorry, I CAN see the threshold test file, I CAN’T see the easy run file on Strava. Looks like you sent me the threshold test, can you send me the easy run.

But, for sure the threshold test was top heavy. You ran it 7:02 the first 15 and 6:46 the second 15. So, your real threshold pace is closer to 6:50 and LTHR closer to 181. That explains part of the disconnect between HR and Pace, but if you can give me the easy file to look at too that will let me finish the analysis.

    David
