I have just had a level 2 Marathon Plan dropped into my Training Peaks (thanks David :)). I am planning on entering a Marathon in early Oct before taking a rest and starting a Level 2 Half Ironman plan for a 70.3 in Feb 2022.
I am wanting to keep swimming during this time (swimming with a masters squad Mon, Tue and Thu) as well as keep up one or two rides. In the version of the 80/20 Running book I have there was cross training options in lieu of Foundation Run’s. But I’ve noticed that there isn’t a cross train option in the new plans.
How do I incorporate cross training into the new plan? I’m assuming your Tue and Fri Intervals as well as the long run are the key workouts to hit in a week but would also like to try and get in one or two of the other runs as well. Thanks in advance.
Actually, nothing has changed in our run plans with respect to cross-training. Although all of the Foundation Runs are listed as runs rather than as run/cross-train options, if you read the pre-activity comments you will see that plan users are instructed to replace these runs with nonimpact or low-impact cardio cross-training as they see fit. So go ahead and do that.
