    Hello,

Help me please with the following question 🙂

Next year (on 10.07.2022 to be exact) I want to do IM 70.3 but before that event I would like to complete one more big challenge (for me) – I dream to run/comlete my first marathon in life 🙂

I am not sure when should I run it?
Where to place it in my training plan?
The plan for 70.3 will take 18 weeks – when in your opinion would be the best moment to run the maraton?
Next week I partiipate in the last competition this season (olimpic distance) and that is all for this season.

I would be very grateful for any comments and suggestions
    😉

Your best bet is to run the marathon 20 weeks out from your 70.3, give yourself two weeks to regenerate, and then start your 70.3 training plan.

One more question – I would like to use your 18 week plan for marathon and then run it as you said two weeks before I start my 70.3 plan BUT I don’t want to quit/stop smwimming and cycling during my marathon plan (triathlon is my priority).
Is there anyway (any plan) to combine it?
    🙂

Yes, that’s called cross-training. There are guidelines for that contained within each run plan. It simply entails replacing as many easy runs as you like with easy swims and rides. This will enable you to hold on to a solid foundation of swim and bike fitness without taking away from your primary run focus.

    Thanks 🙂

Are there any guidelines how mamy swims/rides should I do per week?
    How long should they last?
    Should I include any intervals?

    Sorry for so mamy questions
    😉

Just replace easy runs with swims and rides of the exact same format. In other words, everything is short and in Zone 2. One to two sessions per week in each discipline.

Understand that you can’t make everything your highest priority simultaneously. That is both conceptually and practically impossible. If you’re going to commit to running a marathon, you need to be okay with making running your clear and exclusive top priority and be okay with losing some sharpness in the swim and on the bike. It will come back quickly when you pivot back to triathlon.
