Hi, I am now into my 2nd year of 80/20 plans (have the book also) and thoroughly enjoying them.
Just several weeks into a HM level 2 running plan, and there is one issue I have always had which is really starting to bug me.
In all my non-hill workouts, done through Training Peaks, my preferred units are “% threshold pace”.
So I expect to get voice prompts from my Garmin Fenix 6pro to be required pace, but instead I get speed (in km/hr) instead.
On the Garmin, my audio prompts are set to pace/speed alerts.
I’m unable to change the screen btw, so if I want to see current or lap pace, I need to switch to another screen, but still all the audio prompts are done using speed instead of pace.
Is this a 80/20 issue, or Training Peaks issue, or even a Garmin issue?
Damo, I wish I could help here. I’ve not heard of this issue. I can say that we define all of our workouts as a % of threshold pace (not speed) within TrainingPeaks. From there, we release the workout to TrainingPeaks and Garmin to determine the athlete experience. TrainingPeaks or Garmin would need to comment on this.
However, here is what I suspect: I suspect that Garmin can only use speed, not pace, so it is converting your pace to speed and it’s a hardware limit on the device itself.
