Finished my first 80/20 plan at the end of July, which led me off to a new PB in the 5K (using the 10K plan, though). It’s been some time since I’ve seriously taken on the Mile/1500m but am considering it now for a winter challenge.
The shortest distance plan available is for the 5K, but I’m wondering if something for the shorter distances such as 1500-3000m races would be a possibility? Alternatively (though I guess this question belongs under the customization section of the forum), how would you go about adjusting the 5K plan to better accommodate a shorter distance race?
We haven’t built 80/20 plans for middle-distance events because most people who race them are either in school and have a coach or do a lot of them on a schedule that no prebuilt plan could anticipate. You can get close to 100% fit for a 1500 or 3000 on one of our 5K plans. You can get even closer by slightly reducing the amount of training in Zones X and 3 and commensurately increasing the amount of training in Zones 4 and 5.
