    Hi Coaches, My race for olympic standard distance triathlon on May 17 was postponed and re scheduled on September 13 due to Covid virus. How will I adjust in my training plan im already in the middle weeks of training. I have a training race coming on May 10 half marathon as B race or training race but no announcement yet if they will postpone it. Thank you

    Chris, so sorry to hear about your cancellation. I suspect it will be the first of many that our community will have to adjust to. It’s a small price to pay for our own health and the health and safety of others!

    If I were you, I’d now split the season into two: One with a May 10 event and the next with a Sept 13 event. Make the HM on May 10 your new A race and consider an 80/20 HM plan using the cross-training options as your swim and bike workouts.

    Then, after the HM, take a week or two off, and switch back to the Oly plan, picking up the plan where it may fall with an end date of Sept 13.

    Okay Coach. So Just follow or continue my Oly Level 3 tri plan and consider the bike workout and swim workout as cross train and race a HM as my A race..Do I still need to follow the intensity both swim and bike? So convert it the remaining swim and bike as aerobic ( zone 1 – 2)?

    No, I recommend you unload your Oly plan and load a HM plan with an end date of May 10 and the HM plan becomes your primary focus. The HM plan includes multiple cross-train options each week. You will use those cross train options to swim and bike, to maintain your swim and bike fitness.

    Then, after the HM, take a week off and load the Oly plan with an end date of Sept. 13. This will place you about week 6 into the Oly plan, but your fitness level from the HM plan will be more than enough to jump into the plan in ~Week 6.
