ParticipantHi, when I first setup my 10k level 0 plan, I only had heartrate data but I now have a Stryd and would like to use power data too but none of my workouts have that data. I added running power into the zones section and calculated zones using my FTP and they are saved there but not in my workouts.
I tried deleting the plan and re-adding it but no luck. Appreciate any help, thanks.

ParticipantI saw the recommendation of logging out and back in but still no power zones in my workouts.

ParticipantAlso, just to confirm, I added running power to zones, I’m not using the default power zones. I believe I’ve followed all instructions correctly.

ParticipantHi – each plan is only for one metric – HR, Power or Pace. So you will need a new plan for a new metric 1oK L0 POWER plan. The nice 80/20 team swapped my plan from Pace to Power me at no charge and I expect they will respond here telling you how to make the change. I am only writing to save you trying to get it to work without the right plan.

ParticipantThank you for the advice, I’ll stop playing with the settings now in that case!
Interesting, I don’t think it’ll be an easy decision to decide on a plan that’s power, heart rate, or pace. As it stands, my Garmin workout is constantly beeping when I’ve had cardiac drift but am at the correct power, so it would be nice for that to stop. It would be nice to know all three metrics really… I’ll think on it, thanks again.

KeymasterNewdent, FatDad is correct, we just need you to switch the plan from HR to Power, and we do that for free. Submit a Level Guarantee request at https://www.8020endurance.com/contact/

ParticipantThank you. I submitted a request and now have access to the power plan but unfortunately, the power field on the workout screen is not displaying power (and there’s no ranges displayed, but I read that this part is an issue and it’s recommended to use the stryd workout app but this doesn’t suit me because I like to use my custom run screens during my workout that display things like cadence, pace and HR). Any ideas why the power field isn’t updating though? This is on a Garmin forerunner 245 music. Thanks.

ParticipantI had a similar issue. I realized when you connect stryd using bluetooth as a powermeter (instead of connecting via ANT+ as a footpod, Garmin watch would pick it up. Try this

ParticipantThanks for your reply. I don’t seem to have the ability to choose what protocol is used to connect to the device and don’t see power meter listed as a category unfortunately.

ParticipantI have been through your pain in the last couple of months. You cant use the native Garmin Power screens – they only work with Garmin devices. You need to use Stryd specific ones.
Short answer – you can configure the Stryd workout app to cover the data you want. Load the app and look under settings/data screens.
Long answer: Have a look back over posts from the last week and you will find one where 3 alternative datafields that support structured workouts are linked to. I tried a couple, but the text was too small for my old eyes. Note that for some of these datafelds you ALSO need to have the Stryd datafield running to sync the data back to Powercenter and from there to Garmin Connect and TP.
Personally I have stuck with the Stryd Workout App and configured it for the data I want. If I go somewhere I need Navigation then I may need to re-look at the other apps.

ParticipantThank you, I didn’t realise I could add screens in the Stryd workout app, so I will look into this initially as the TrainingPeak integration with Stryd was much smoother than with Garmin.
So are you saying that the power that’s displayed on the 8020 workout screen (garmin workouts, not stryd) will only work if the power is coming from a native garmin power device and not from the stryd? Frustratingly, I do use a HRM-pro that can give native power but my watch doesn’t have a barometer, so I can’t be used for native power, which is why I bought the stryd.

ParticipantI’ll try to answer but I am a bit confused by your post as there is no native Garmin support for 8020.
So there is a Power screen that came built into my 945 watch that has nothing to do with 8020. I understand that only works with Garmin sensors.
There is an 8020 datafield that was developed in conjunction with the 8020 team and which you need to download to your watch from here https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/597586ff-128f-46ca-a896-1679f8c10d1a. That works with Stryd – but you need to bind your Stryd to your watch in a specifc way as detailed on the download page under “PLEASE NOTE WHEN USING RUN POWER”. That has worked for me in the past. It does not support structured workouts.

ParticipantAnd.. Stryd documentation is poor, but their online chat is great. I recommend having a chat session with their support team who are familiar with the Garimn/TP/Stryd setup.

ParticipantI am pretty sure you can connect the stryd using bluetooth, and as a powermeter too.
Under ‘sensors & accessories‘ scroll down and you will see FP – XXXXX whereby XXXXX stands for your stryd ID. Scroll further down and you will also find PWR – XXXXX. Connect this one too.Yet I think to have the metric and all other stryd data recorded, you will need to also have the stryd datafield in your exercise profile.
I use also a separate datafield called RunPowerWorkout for workouts.
It was a little bit of a hack, but I did resolve all the issue I had once I found this setup.

ParticipantThanks guys.
I’ve figured out one of the issues but not how to resolve it. The 8020 workouts that auto-sync to Garmin (presumably from TrainingPeaks?) is no longer displaying anything sensible on the main workout screen which shows you if you’re in the correct range. When on the heart rate plan, it showed the lower and upper heart rate range with red bars either end and a green bar in the middle. On the power workout, it initially flashes up ‘STEP PACE’ when the workout starts and then displays what I can only assume is some sort of averaged pace (as it’s a time in format ##:## but it changes very gradually up and down with changing pace) where I’d expect to see real-time power. Would be nice to have the lower and upper listed too but not the end of the world. It seems like the workout has a bug and is displaying something called step pace instead of power.
If that’s because as you say FatDad, there is no support for Stryd power in the 8020 workouts then fair enough, I’ll have to try out the Stryd workout app instead. I now see how you can add extra displays with custom fields to stryd workouts, so that’s good. The only negative of that is that the workout name is not retained when it’s displayed in Garmin connect (or TrainingPeaks and Strava but these come from Garmin so that makes sense). A minor thing but would be nice to have the workout name retained.
Funaki, I’ve not had any luck connecting as a powermeter but I’ll try Stryd live chat, so thanks for the advice!
