    Hey guys,

So after an acute injury I’m finally back running. Did the 20min field test following a board session to emulate my race.

    1. I’m using power and stryd. I’ve loaded the zone calculator and got my zones. But stryd only has 5 zones with no x and y so I have included x in zone 3 and y in zone 4.

Reality is harsh sometimes but that’s where I am no need wishing just doing.

Hi Ben – I’m in exactly the same situation as you. I’ve been injured and got back to it with about 4weeks training before my A race. I use Stryd power and set up the Stryd power zones app on my Garmin yesterday. I was trying to figure out how best to fit the X and Y zones into Stryds 5 zones. I ended up including zone X into Zone 3 (threshold), and zone Y into Zone 4 (interval). I think this is ok, as I use the stryd workout app for my structured run sessions which ensures I’m training in the right zones.

I just combine zones X and 3, and zones Y and 4. But then, if there’s a specific zone target for a zone 3 or zone 4 run, I’ll look at the range ahead of time to make sure that I’m on track.

I’m old fashioned – I simply remember what my target zone watts are 🙂

Some guidance combining zones here https://www.8020endurance.com/how-to-create-8020-zones-on-your-garmin-device/

Makes sense combining zones 1&2 and 3&y on STRYD as suggested. Not ideal if you are running power; I don’t, but the guidelines work fine for tracking power on the STRYD Power Center. Similar to winoria, I just memorize the power caps for key segments of each workout.

    Hi,
my understanding is there is no mapping from stryd zones to 8020 zones. IIRC an 8020 coach told me if you are following 8020, its best to ignore the Stryd zones and just use the 8020 ones via TP and the Stryd Workout App.
