I did RT19 for the first time today. The 50 min Z2 after the 20 min Z3 was a killer for the first 10 min or so. It was tough but super rewarding. Thanks for the great plan and the great workouts. I can see improvement every week.
Question for the coaches – On RT workouts like this, after I do 20 mins at high Z3 testing for my threshold limit, is it ok to stop and walk or jog very slowly (Z1) for a few minutes before getting into a Z2 groove for the remainder of the workout? Or is part of the point of this to go right into Z2 and keep a grip on Z2 throughout after doing the 20 mins of Z3 (at threshold)?
Ted, for sure you can walk after any high intensity segment. I walk the first minute of every Zone 3 rest interval and the first 2 minutes of every Zone 4 rest interval. Even when we don’t schedule a rest interval, like an RT, 1-2 minutes is always totally acceptable.
