I use the Run Pace caclulator on the website using a recent 5k time to calculate my pace zones. I notice this has been tweaked a bit and the values seem to have changed from when I last put my 5k time in (2 weeks ago) – paces seem a bit slower?
We changed the calculator to make outputs based on time trials (and the talk test) more truly predictive of the pace a runner could sustain for 60 minutes at their current fitness level.
When I backed my paces from the calculator in to the heart rate zones they were also pretty much spot on.
As the pace calculator has now changed I’m thinking I should now retest my 5k time (after 6 weeks of HM2 plan) to recalibrate my HR zones – does that make sense?
