    so triathlon is not life.

that said, i have my A race this year in November (a “local” 70.3) then i would like to roll into my first full distance plan for April 2021 for ironman texas.

that said, I have a 5 day disney christmas cruise i will be taking my daughter on mid december. im sure i can get some treadmill time in on the cruise, but realistically for those several days training will be at a minimum.

how does everyone handle breaks like these? its extremely difficult to devote 5 straight months to a single race and not have family and life events derail training.

Damon, I hope my response does not prevent others from adding their experience. I’ll reply as an athlete, not as a coach this time.

I’m a reasonably successful athlete, and have a 26-year marriage and 3 great kids to also spend time with. I have no issues with taking a week off here and there over the course of a 6-month training plan. I’ll always adjust the week off to be a rest week, and may do a brief workout here and there, but if I’m on vacation, taking several days completely off at at time is common
