I am 73, started doing triathlons at 67 with a 70.3 and a full, and have trained and raced 70.3’s since. I am a back-of-the-pack participant and happy with that.

I want to race sprint tri’s next summer and run some half marathons to have fun and perhaps to build fitness for another full in 2023. Is there a simple modification to a plan that would accomplish my goals. Left to myself I would take a Sprint Level 1 plan and layer in that Half Marathon plan.

That’ll work assuming the cumulative training load doesn’t exceed what you’ve tolerated in the past. Also, just to be clear, you’re not so much layering on the half-marathon plan as swapping out the run portion of the sprint triathlon plan for the half-marathon plan. You might need to do some shuffling of workouts within each week to ensure hard rides and hard runs don’t fall too close together.
