Congrats on your invite! It’s doable, but you have to realistic with what you can achieve in 8 weeks (accounting for a 2 week taper) without overdoing your training load. So maybe you go in a little under trained – but my experience is that it is a better option then over-trained, fatigued and/or injured from overload.
It will only suck if you make it suck. Pick the most realistic Ironman plan and make sure you don’t overload yourself in the first weeks – and don’t cram/panic train and just enjoy the race with no expectations would be my recommendation this close to the event.
