I live in central NC and all training has been done here in non-mountainous part of the state (olympic distance level 2 plan). will be in Jackson Hole at 6500ft during taper week leading up to the Alcatraz Tri in San Fran. Any suggested changes to the planned training during the last week of taper being at higher elevation for 6 or 7 days just before the race?
Just do everything slower. At that altitude you’ll be about 16 seconds per mile slower at the same intensity in running, and you should make equivalent adjustments in swimming and cycling. Outside of training, be sure to drink tons of water and increase your iron intake leading into that week and throughout it.
