    Hi,

After months of debating, I’ve finally got Stryd 🙂 My question is how do you enter the time trial into Stryd? Stryd is asking for more information such as RSS and the Target in %?

The Power Testing section under this link doesn’t really give you those details?

    Intensity Guidelines for 80/20 Running

By the way, I’m still learning how to use Stryd… it took me a while to set it up with my Garmin Forerunner 245 watch today!

    Many thanks

Great choice on the Stryd! You wont’ regret it.

We cover this in the Q&A of Understanding Your TrainingPeaks Structured Workout Plan, included below for your convenience:

Q: My Stryd zones and 80/20 Zones are not aligning in the Stryd app. Why?

While 80/20 uses a fixed duration to determine run power threshold – 95% of a 20-minute trial, or 95% of CP20 – Stryd uses a dynamic method to determine critical power. This could be CP20 for one athlete, or CP40 for another. Therefore, the two methods may not completely align as the Stryd method is fluid. To resolve this, disable Auto-Calculated CP in the Stryd mobile app and manually set your Stryd CP to match your 80/20 run power threshold. https://support.stryd.com/hc/en-us/articles/360057616393

If the run power threshold set in TrainingPeaks is the same as the critical power manually set in the Stryd app, the two applications will align.

See this article from Stryd for more information. https://support.stryd.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500005239442

Thanks David. I’ve managed to do 10K Level 1 with my Garmin Watch using their pace but I live in an area with tall buildings and it was annoying to see my watch thought I was running fast while I was only walking!!! There were times when I couldn’t do my Fartlek runs properly for this reason and it made me to buy Stryd.

I’m going to start 10K Level 2 plan now. How often do you need to do time trials? I used to do it every 3 weeks or so when I did Level 1 but not sure if I should have done it more often?

    G,

The frequency and protocol of zone testing is addressed in our document https://www.8020endurance.com/intensity-guidelines-for-8020-running/ in the section Keeping Your Zones Current. It’s as much as every rest, but not necessarily every rest week.

    David
