Now that we’re back home, I just did my first trail run this morning. It was relatively flat. I didn’t pay any attention to anything other than RPE. To me, it felt aerobically easy the whole time. But when I finished, my heart rate was in 48% in zone 2 and 46% in zone X. This is probably from having to keep picking up my feet to avoid various obstacles (roots, rocks, etc.).
I was planning on doing a zone 3 (fast finish) run tomorrow. But since I (apparently) pushed harder than I should have, Would it be better instead to go easy tomorrow and then maybe doing something faster on Wednesday or Thursday? Or would you just keep things as scheduled, provided that the other easy days this week are truly easy?
