I’ll be starting my level 2 full distance triathlon training plan tomorrow. The goal is IM Mallorca in may. I live in a very flat coastal city and have no access to hills nearby and i plan on utilizing the smart trainer, kickr climb and zwift to get some hill work into my training. Are there any tips on how i can go about this within my training plan? Do i ride on the hilly routes for the easier rides? or do all my rides and intervals on a mix of all the routes? I’d like some help with this. thank you so much 🙂

D, thanks for using our plans! We have a document that covers this, see https://www.8020endurance.com/adjusting-your-8020-training-plan/

    Hi Diagnosid!

Just to follow up from Davids post – I did IM70.3 Aix en Provence in September, which has approx. 1200m of climbing over 3 climbs. I managed to get a fair bit of training in my specific phase on mountains, and it does help. However, I did use Best Bike Split to work out how hard I could and should push on the hills. Basically I pushed as hard as I could, whilst keeping an eye on my splits and normalized power, so that I didn’t over do it for the run…..

    Good luck!
