Good question. We haven’t created any mile-specific plans because the event is raced by students mainly, who compete frequently on different schedules, so it’s hard to create plans that work for more than one athlete or team. That being said, 5K training is pretty good prep for the mile. The main adjustment I would make to our 80/20 5K plans would be to shift some of the 20% from Zone 3 to Zone 4 and from Zone 4 to Zone 5. More of a polarized intensity distribution, in other words.
