ParticipantNew to 80/20, searched but couldn’t find any answers.
Yesterday, I tried doing my run (pace) workout on a treadmill. I was able to control my pace on the treadmill, but it didn’t really translate well on my garmin forerunner 945. Is the only solution to get a stryd power meter for treadmill workouts? I completed the session, but pace info, distance etc is completely wrong.
Also, I’ve done all my swim workouts at a pool, but would like to get in some ocean swimming. Is there anyway to do the workout in ocean swimming mode on my garmin? I can only access workouts when I am in pool swimming mode.
thanks!

KeymasterWelcome to 80/20 Jeweladdict!
Yes you are going to find discrepancies on pace and distance when using your garmin on a treadmill. If you are going to be running on a treadmill quite often then using power or HR can be a better metric to use due to the variances.
I don’t believe that the open water swimming option on your garmin is going to import structured workouts, I will do some research on my side though and if I find a work around I’ll let you know! For open water swimming I tend recommend do the swim to the intention that the workout – but using time as the basis for your intervals as it can be tricky using distance.

ParticipantGarmin Forerunner 945 is accurate indoors with either a chest strap or foot pod only. It will self calibrate after outdoor running.
My daughter resisted the chest strap for ages. I gave her one to try out after her foot pod failed. She will never go back to just the watch and pod. She gets all of her running dynamics outdoors and indoors with good fidelity.

ParticipantThat’s interesting. Are you able to get pace metrics using the chest strap? By chest strap, do you mean HR monitor? I have a wahoo tickr + my garmin 945, but pace was still off.
Is there any way to get the HR run workouts along with Pace workouts for when I do treadmill?

Keymasterjewel, this is notexactly what you are looking for, but this might help with those open water swims: https://www.8020endurance.com/how-to-convert-pool-swim-workouts-to-open-water/
Charles’ solution is a good solution for indoor running and getting both HR and Pace. use the Garmin footpod for Pace and the strap for HR.
Or, I’d invest in a Stryd instead.
