Currently doing a tri maintenance plan. Since I wanted to have Sunday as my rest day, it places the swim workouts on Tues, Thurs, Sat. I prefer to swim Mon, Wed, Fri. My current pool isn’t available on weekends either.
Is this a problem? I’ll eventually start an actual tri plan and I’m wondering if the swim workouts are specifically organized to match with the bike/run workouts in order to optimize recovery or some other reason.
That switch is no problem. The swims are for the most part scheduled independently from the bike run, and in fact the 80/20 ratios are calculated for the swim separately from the bike run. Recovery on the swim is so quick that making that change is just fine.
What does still matter is frequency. We prefer you don’t swim Mon, Tue, Wed and then not at all for the rest of the week. Your proposed distribution is just great.
