    David,

Just an idea that I have had.

It may be advantageous to your users to build some discipline specific training plans. I’ll use myself as an example.

Before subscribing to 80/20 i had zero direction on the swim, was using trainer road on the bike (im so glad to be away from TR, i was always just trashed with all their intensity), and was logging 30 or so miles of running a week, but had zero direction in those runs.

Since 80/20 my swim and bike have excelled, ive seen a great deal of growth and im very happy with it. However, i havnt progressed at all on the run. I still consider the overall holistic training experience ive gotten from 80/20 as a massive win, but it would be very cool to have a training plan option that would essentially put two of the disciplines in maintenance mode and focus on growing one for the duration of a training plan.

just an idea / suggestion! i’m a very happy subscriber and will stay that way for the foreseeable future!

Damon, great idea. This method is a credible process called “block training” where the training focuses heavily on a specific discipline for a period of time. It’s on our radar, but I would not expect anything until 2021.

In the meantime, you can adjust your 80/20 plan into a “block” plan by adding 25% weekly more volume to the sport you want improve, preferably in a separate workout. For example, if you have 3 hours of running scheduled in a week, add another separate 45-minute run workout. It can be all Zone 1-2, or you can structure it in a way where 20% of the extra run is high intensity, thus keeping the ratios for the week in check.

awesome, glad you guys are looking at it! i know it would be a big undertaking because you would essentially have to create 3 more plans for each level of each plan you already have.

that said, thanks for the guideline of 25% more volume… that takes some guesswork out of it!
