Thanks Alan, this is really helpful. Definitely will be aiming to get out early in the morning, and paying attention to hydration. Looks like I might be able to run along the Buffalo Bayou for most of it, so at least it would be green!

Thanks for confirming David, and in time for tomorrow’s 25km Endurance Run!

Thanks Don. Keen to hear other views too. It strikes me that to finish a 25km run still with RPE of 3 would mean starting incredibly slowly.

Thanks Alan, I appreciate the detail in your response and your kind wishes. I feel much better already but am paying close attention to the kinds of signs you mention.

I think I will start walking outside and just make sure I’m back to ‘normal’ over next few days and then add in some 15-20 minute, zone 1 runs over the following week. As you have done I will avoid anything zone 3 or above for a while.

Once I am comfortable I’m back to good function I’ll have to work out how to resume marathon plan properly, and if I can still run it as planned at end of May.

Glad to hear you are feeling better too!

Alan, how did you get on with the return to training? I tested positive on Monday and have been moderately fatigued last couple of days. Starting to feel better now and thinking about a slow, careful return to Marathon plan (had just finished week 3). I’ve seen the guidance here – https://www.uptodate.com/contents/covid-19-return-to-play-or-strenuous-activity-following-infection

How did you go in the end?

Great, thanks so much for the quick response Matt. On reflection, yes, I probably wouldn’t do it *every* third week.

You mention the talk test, which I’ve read about but never properly tried – will give it a go. I’ve always suspected it will result in a lower top-end Zone 2 pace, even if my a recent 5K time would give a higher one in the zone calculator. I’ll find out…

Thanks David! It doesn’t appear again in my current plan so no problem there.

NB this is my first time using TP with 80/20 (rather than spread sheets and the book – previously triathlon plans) and I’m really enjoying it.

Of course: It’s pace, week 3, and it’s actually RP14, not RPI16. Apologies for any confusion.

In fact, in TP ‘description’ field it states:

    5:00 in Zone 1
    5:00 in Zone 2
    5 x (0:30 in Zone 3/0:20 in Zone 4/0:10 in Zone 5)
    5:00 in Zone 1
    5 x (0:30 in Zone 3/0:20 in Zone 4/0:10 in Zone 5)
    5:00 in Zone 1
    5 x (0:30 in Zone 3/0:20 in Zone 4/0:10 in Zone 5)
    10:00 in Zone 1

But the ‘Workout Details’ section matches the .FIT file with 5 x, 5x, 4x.
