Gran Fondo - 120km to 160km Training Plan

Fifteen weeks for the 120-to-160K fondo range — long enough to demand real endurance riding, short enough to race rather than merely survive. The 80/20 balance builds the base; the quality work handles the climbs and surges. Levels 0–3.

Questions

Plan FAQ

How long is the Gran Fondo - 120km to 160km plan?

The Gran Fondo - 120km to 160km plan is 15 weeks long. It comes in 4 levels, Level 0 through Level 3, so choose the volume tier you can sustain. Pricing starts at $39.95 on TrainingPeaks, or it's included with Team 80/20.

What does 80/20 cycling mean?

About 80 percent of your riding time at low intensity and 20 percent at moderate to high. Cyclists drift into moderate-intensity purgatory more easily than anyone — group rides make it a lifestyle — and restoring the easy-riding majority is usually the single biggest training change in a cyclist's results.

Do I need a power meter?

No. Every cycling plan is available in a heart-rate version. Power is the more precise tool and responds instantly to effort changes, so use the power version if you have a meter — but the heart-rate versions enforce the same intensity discipline.

Which level should I choose?

Levels 0 to 3 are weekly-hours tiers. Choose based on the riding time you can sustain every week, not your best-case week. A completed Level 1 plan beats an abandoned Level 2 plan every time.

How is the plan delivered?

Through TrainingPeaks. After purchase you apply the plan to your TrainingPeaks calendar, and every workout appears with its structure and intensity targets. Workouts sync to most watches and head units, and your completed sessions are scored against the plan automatically.

Is this plan included in a Team 80/20 membership?

Yes. Team 80/20 is $16.58/month when paid annually and includes every 80/20 training plan, TrainingPeaks Premium, and Mind of Matt coaching. If you expect to use more than one plan, the membership costs less than buying plans individually.
