Questions

Plan FAQ

How long is the Ultra 100 Mile Premium Strength plan?

The Ultra 100 Mile Premium Strength plan is 22 weeks long. It comes in 2 levels, Advanced through Standard, so choose the volume tier you can sustain. Pricing starts at $29.95 on TrainingPeaks, or it's included with Team 80/20.

Do endurance athletes really need strength training?

It's the most commonly skipped ingredient in endurance training. Strength work improves durability and economy and protects against the injuries that interrupt training — and interrupted training is the biggest performance killer there is. These plans exist to make it fit around your endurance sessions rather than compete with them.

What's the difference between the plug-ins and the Premium Strength plans?

Strength Training Plug-ins are simple, minimal-equipment routines matched week-by-week to a specific 80/20 endurance plan — most are free with a code from the sample-week email. Premium Strength plans are fuller periodized gym programs with Standard and Advanced tracks, also aligned to their companion endurance plan's calendar.

When do the strength sessions land?

Each plan is periodized against its companion endurance plan, so strength volume peaks and tapers with your training arc and sessions are placed to interfere as little as possible with key workouts. Run both plans side by side on your TrainingPeaks calendar.

How is the plan delivered?

Through TrainingPeaks. After purchase you apply the plan to your TrainingPeaks calendar, and every workout appears with its structure and intensity targets. Workouts sync to most watches and head units, and your completed sessions are scored against the plan automatically.

Is this plan included in a Team 80/20 membership?

Yes. Team 80/20 is $16.58/month when paid annually and includes every 80/20 training plan, TrainingPeaks Premium, and Mind of Matt coaching. If you expect to use more than one plan, the membership costs less than buying plans individually.

What 80/20 runners say

  • I tell everyone about your plans. I’ve recently PR’d my 5k, half, full marathon, and 70.3.

    A.J. Moser

    Marathon

  • Thank you 80/20 Endurance! I followed the plan and ran a half marathon as a "feeler." I ran a 1:26, won my age group and was amazed that I could run that pace. Using 80/20, I went back to a marathon course where I ran a 3:23 on and ended up running a 3:13! I'm now qualified for the Boston Marathon!

    Andy Jones

    Marathon

  • The almost-daily runs and training consistently with the established intensity were key. I had no injuries while training!
